Create Routes or Search for a route from millions at MapMyRun

Date: Saturday, June 2, 2018

Location: Blueberry Lake, North Parking Lot - Warren, VT

Event Start Time: 08:45 a.m.

Fun Run Start: 9:00 a.m. sharp

Awards Ceremony: approximately 9:55 a.m.

Refreshments: Pizza, water and ice cream sandwiches immediately after awards ceremony (or during the ceremony for some...) :)

Official Event End: 11:00 a.m.

Families of the runners are invited to participate in the Fun Run (or walk) as well as enjoying refreshments and camaraderie afterwards. Everyone is always welcome to stay and enjoy the lake and surrounding area after our activity is done, if the weather permits! In years past folks have enjoyed paddling kayaks, canoes, paddle boarding as well as swimming and fishing.

R.S.V.P: No Later Than Friday, May 25, 2018. Please provide a total count of family members attending so we can ensure enough pizza and ice cream is ordered. Please copy both Clayton and Joe on the email with the attendance information.

SPECIAL REQUEST from "the Coaches": Our club operates on a shoestring budget. We are lucky to have financial support from the Waitsfield PTA, but this may not be sufficient to cover all of the costs associated with snacks/drinks during the weekly runs, the final run food/drinks and the runner individual awards. A donation of $20 per family (4 or more) OR $5 for each individual runner is requested. Your donations will help defray the MVR Group costs and are greatly appreciated (and frankly, needed)! If you need financial assistance for this event, please let either Joe or Clayton know - we want all of our runners and family members to participate and enjoy!!

2018 HUMS XC Adventure Running Camp... Every Zoo needs an "A.R.C."

Hey everyone!

After much inquiry into insurance for a Spartan Camp, it ends up that we unfortunately cannot get insurance for a Spartan Camp for kids… go figure :)

I will be however putting together a two-week HUMS XC Adventure Running Camp... Every Zoo needs an "A.R.C. ;) (please see attached sheet for details!)

The camp will consist of running, games, obstacles (possible activities to include but not limited to: racing up mountains, crawling in the mud (lovely) possibly under wire (not barbed ;), fun races where a participant ‘may’ carry large heavy pieces of __________ (no, I’m not telling!) through the woods, while crossing streams, and so on.  Basically all activities that would improve mental resilience, agility, stamina, and physical strength (all qualities needed going into fall sports) while hopefully having an enormous amount of fun... what are the odds there won't be jolly ranchers? :)

At the end of the camp, we will celebrate with an “obstacle” (not Spartan) race for participants, parents, siblings, and friends to test their ‘metal’ against. Hopefully as many of you will come as can make it!

We will only be taking up to 25 participants to ensure that everyone gets individualized attention (Mr. Wagner has generously agreed to help out with the mayhem.), so it will be on a 'first-come, first-served' basis.

ALL ATHLETES FROM ANY SPORT ARE WELCOME!  Please let any and everyone know whose not on this email list, regardless of there chosen sport that might be interested (esp. if they are coming up from 6th grade and I don't know them yet!)  Please email with any questions or concerns, and I hope to see as many of you who can make it.

Thanks,
Lou

5/9/2018: What a day to run on the Mad Path!!

We couldn't have asked for better weather and the Mad Path is in pristine condition. The runners even had enough energy to do some sprints at the end...
Always get a group photo at the beginning of an event!

 One Mile Done!

Yes - It was WARM!!

Strolls are helpful - moving forward is key!

Do you ever get that feeling that you are being followed?

 Working those arms!

Original cotton T-Shirt and two copies... August not only named the group, he made our LOGO!!

5/2/2018: Group Photo - What a crew!!

MVR Group: "The Wednesday Crew"
What a beautiful day! I just can't wrap my mind around having 24 student runners along with 11 adults all participating in our running group at one time.

All I can say is Woot - Woot!! It was a great day for all, and Danielle swooped in at the end with popsicles to cool the runners off right before pick up - THANKS!!

I will get more action shots up tomorrow...

No MVR Group Run on Monday, April 30, 2018

Happy Friday everyone!!

I wanted to get the word out early that there will not be a Mad Valley Runners group run on Monday, April 30, 2018.

We will resume on Wednesday; the plan is to return to the Mad Path for this run.

The run on Wednesday was wet but I saw smiles the entire time. Have a wonderful weekend!

4/25/18 - Old County Road to Old Center Fayston Road Loop

Twenty runners and seven coaches "braved" the rain for an excellent afternoon run. We ended with "silent dodge ball" or frisbee as well as a special treat from the vactioning Joe Robinson.

The crew is excited about putting in a few miles in the rain!!
